Founded in 1988, the Asheville Gallery of Art is the longest-established fine arts gallery in Asheville. As a 31-member cooperative, each gallery artist is a co-owner who not only displays artwork at the gallery but works to keep the business running.

The gallery building, built in 1890 and listed on the US National Registry of Historic Places, is not only gorgeous but is a destination in and of itself with a rich and interesting history.
