When I paint, I lose time. Hours go by in an instant. I’m fascinated by watercolor and how it works (or sometimes doesn’t) and how I have control of the medium but don’t really because watercolors do what watercolors choose to do. Every painting is part me and part mysterious forces.

I have always loved art in various form, studied art history in college, and have spent the last number of years involved in and teaching culinary arts.  Watercolor has provided a wonderful medium to explore and it is perfect  for capturing the beauty of the natural world.

I’m lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, the Western North Carolina Mountains.  These mountains, some of the oldest and wisest in the world, are my inspiration. Every time I paint and continue to practice putting paint to paper, I see details that I once missed.  I want to look closely and better see the world around me.
